Tai Chi

It's a slow process, but if she concentrates really hard, Josie can get those hands into her mouth now. . .

Crossover Post: Teaching the Baby

Well, I tried really hard to get footage of the Bug trying to teach Josie to clap -- he said "Clap!" several times, and grabbed her hands and tried to make her clap -- but I missed it. By the time I got the camera on, he was teaching her the parts of the body: "Head, eyes, BUTTON!!, knees and toes." It's still pretty good.

A Crossover Post: Conversations Between Siblings

This is a picture of the second conversation that Ben had with Josie. Mostly Ben talks to us about Josie, or pats her hard on the head and yells "Okay! Okay!" to try to get her to stop crying (which, as you can imagine, has just the opposite effect). But he has twice now tried to engage in dialogue directly with her and explain to her about the world.

The first conversation--when she was about 2 weeks old -- was when Ben tried to tell her about the main crush in his life and it went like this: "Music Class! Miss Amy!"

The second conversation took place when I had laid Josie down on the floor on a pillow, and Ben cozied up next to her. Her arm flew out and hit his shoe, and he said "Shoe!" and then proceeded to point out a whole host of body parts. He spent a good five minutes saying things like "Knee," "head," "hair," and "fingers" to her.

. . . and then he picked up her pacifier shoved it in her mouth hard, and made her cry again. Oh, well.

Finger in the Eye, Or How I Learned to Love My Brother

On the occasional morning, the kids like to join us in bed for some Mommy-and-Daddy time.

On this particular morning, Ben decided he needed to show Josie her various body parts.

For that he got a fist in the head.

And here's Josie after disposing of the competition.

The Town Hall Meetings Have Spoken!

Everyone's clamorin' for photos! photos! photos!

So here you go.

I have yet to capture her in her Ramones uni (I hate the word "onesie") but she can't run forever.

A Crossover Post - kinda like Buffy & Angel

Ben and his shadow. It was pretty impressive how quickly he got used to the new parental distraction. Surprisingly faster than he did for Halo 3:ODST.

Day 0. They say it's your birthday.

She showed up in the evening without much fanfare - to everyone's surprise. We expected a long labor, so did the doctor. Instead, four contractions and boom! there's a crying baby! She did stop breathing for a few moments - yes, this mortal coil can shock the system at times. But she found her voice and the nurses departed.

See those lovely locks? We know all the boys in Dupont are jealous of her faux-hawk. Amniotic fluid makes the best product. And the Foxes do convey great heads of hair.

Karen and Joss about an hour after her arrival. Both were  surprisingly spry within a day of Liftoff.  Isn't she a tiny bean? We'd completely forgotten how small they are. I mean, she was already small at 6lb 12oz - but what a peanut. With a belly and vocal chords.
